unique travel experiences

I visited Joshua Tree back in December of 2018. I can say it was one of the most unique travel experiences that I have had to date.

I remember it being such a dramatic shift from LA, where we drove in from. We stayed in a yurt to get a camping/ glamping experience while in California. The yurt was located on a small camping ground that was beautifully decorated with palm trees, decorative lighting, and lots of space from others.

my first campfire

Joshua Tree felt so open and remote. It felt like it was just me, the desert, and the skies. I was able to connect with nature and the outdoor silence as I sat around a campfire for hours during the night. I am also proud to say that my cousin and I both lit a campfire for the first time. It was such a big accomplishment for us. Boy did we work hard to get it started! It was cold but the fire kept me warm. It was a great time for me to reflect and clearly think.

the beauty in the sky

At night the stars were brightly lit above me. My plan was to sleep for a little and wake up at the peak of star visibility, but I overslept. I was pretty sad about that, but I caught an amazing sunset once I did finally awake. The colors were vividly orange and pink cascading across the sky.

Lastly,

If you are looking for peace, space, a beautiful scenery then you may want to visit.  I can’t wait to go back!

Inside of Joshua Tree State park hiking, camping, rock climbing and guided tours by park rangers are available to visitors. Outside of the park there are outdoor museums, sculpture gardens, farmers markets and funky downtown!
